Session Details:

There are so many variances on this session I am copying and pasting the notes from my sources here so you can see where this came from

BRUYNINCKX:

  CO103893  The mask (part 1) (rhythm only)  Col/Legacy K86395-2

  CO103893  The mask (part 2) (rhythm + tp)                 -

  CO103894-4  The mask                         (unissued)

  CO103895-7  Little church    Col C30954, Col/Legacy C2K65135,

                        Sony (Jap)SRCS9123/24 (CD), CBS

                        67219, Col/Legacy K86395-2

  CO103895-10  Little church                     -

Note :Mx. CO103895 has only trumpet, organ, bass and whistling. Other instruments if present can't beheard.

Also, I'm a little thrown by Bruyninckx saying that "rhythm only" is on the first track of The Mask. Since there are only two horn players (Davis and Grossman) why wouldn't he just say "No Davis or Grossman"? Are the keyboards not really playing rhythm parts so they are considered not rhythm? Just a bit confusing, the nomenclature.

Also, Bruyninckx says that two more tracks: Right Off & yesternow, were recorded with a relatively different personnel on the same date as this session, but Lordisco, Jazzdisco both say those tracks were recorded on April 7th. So I don't know which is correct... For what it's worth, the allegedly April 7th session was issued on the Jack Johnson Sessions, not the LIve/Evil issue, so that seems to indicate that it is bruyninckx who is incorrect.

Lordisco:

says that Hermeto Pascoal is listed by Columbia Records but is not "audible" on the tracks. This is confusing since he is also attributed as playing electric piano, whistling, drums, and vocals. It's pretty strange that someone that is inaudible could be attributed to doing so much.
