The John Coltrane Reference book provides a lot of specificity that is otherwise missing in Lord. Whereas Lord notes that Coltrane is on both tenor and soprano, and that Dolphy plays on alto saxophone and flute, the book source specifies which of these instruments is played on each track.

The book source notes that this performance was a private recording. The private recording was provided by Mitsuo Johfu. The concert was recorded for the SWF broadcast series "SWF Jazz Session" using the recording facilities of Hessischer Rundfunk (HR) in Frankfurt.

There is a big inaccuracy about this concert and the one that follows it. Two concerts took place, on November 27 (in Stuttgart) and 29 (in Frankfurt). However, most sources confuse the two concert dates with the locations (incorrectly stating that the Nov 27 concert took place in Frankfurt and the Nov 29 in Stuttgart). The book source clears this up; it uses newspaper advertisements and reviews to confirm that the Stuttgart concert did in fact take place on November 27. Lord is guilty of this inaccuracy. We have used the book source's rectified information to represent the Nov 27 and 29 sessions.
