The John Coltrane Reference book provides a lot of specificity that is otherwise missing in Lord. Whereas Lord notes that Coltrane is on both tenor and soprano, and Dolphy on bass-clarinet and alto saxophone, the book source specifies which of these two instruments is played on each track.
Also, Lord notes Abdul-Malik to be playing the oud (a Middle Eastern instrument) on the "India" tracks, but the book source says that this is a mis-identification, and that the instrument being played is actually the tamboura (an Indian drone instrument). Lord also notes that Garvin Bushell plays the oboe and contrabassoon, but the book source says that the former was actually a misidentification, aural evidence suggests that the oboe is actually the English horn.
The book source also specifies that the Village Vanguard is located at 7th Avenue, 11th St., borough of Manhattan.
