Session Details:

The John Coltrane Reference book notes that this was a recording done for German radio and television (WDR also known as Westdeutscher Rundfunk), as both audio and video recordings of this session exist. The performance took place in the Apollo Theater of Dusseldorf, West Germany.

While The John Coltrane Reference book notes that both Stan Getz and Oscar Peterson were added to the session personnel to play on the Rifftide track, Lord notes that only Peterson was added to it. Therefore, according to Lord - Peterson replaced Kelly as the pianist on this track and Getz replaced Coltrane as the tenor saxophonist. However, according to the book source, Peterson did replace Kelly on the piano (in agreement with Lord) but for the tenor saxophone, Coltrane remained and Getz was added - therefore, the book source believes that there are two tenor saxophones on the track.
