Session Details:

I listed Norman Granz, a huge Jazz impresario of this era, as a leader because nearly every copy of the issue that this session appears on lists it as "Norman Granz presents..." and he was clearly a huge part of this concert happening. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_at_the_Philharmonic

Also, both Lordisco and Bruyninckx do something funny with the track listings: they list an entire orchestra as being the personnel, but then indicate on certain tracks that Coleman Hawkins is playing, or that Roy Eldridge is playing. I do not have the issue on hand, but can find mp3 versions online (see below). While that site only allows you to listent to a snippet of the track, it appears that what Lord and Bruyninckx are saying is that the other HORN players lay out, except for the individual listed. When listening to those "medley" tracks, it is clear that the rhythm section is playing underneath. Therefore, though usually I have listed a medley as one 'track' with the songs therein, in this case it is more accurate and helpful to list all as separate tracks.
