Session Details:

"Concerto for Billy the Kid", remake for "binaural/stereo" is listed by both Lord and Bruyninckx as belonging to the 10/17/1956 G. Russell date, not this one. The CD reissue (Bluebird 6467-2-RB), produced by Ed Michel, puts the remake on the 12/21/1956 session.

While the Matrix number corresponds to the earlier session series, that would be logical given that it is a remake of that song. Also, the drumming (P. Motian vs. Osie Johnson) and production sound quality are very different, in addition to a very different solo by Bill Evans, suggesting that it was a different day. For this reason, I have decided to follow the on-hand CD reissue information. -TS
