Session Details:

This occurred on the same date as a couple sessions with Dizzy, and all at Carnegie Hall. However, for reasons explained more fully in the Ella session on this date, we are splitting them into three sessions. The long/short of it is that since it was a live show, these are three different sets, even though Dizzy is on all three, and his orchestra is on two. But it's clearly him and Bird, then him and Ella, then just him and his orchestra. If this were all in a single studio recording session, it would be a stronger case to as one session, but not as a concert. -JS

Also, couldn't find any track times for the final five tracks. Bruyninckx has a curious comment about them, "It is not sure if Arco AL8 [the tracks in question] does not contain faked titles." That double negative is confusing. Is he saying that there is a possibility that all the these tracks could be incorrect? as in, from a different date? A different band, even? Adding to the curiousity is that I can't find composers listed for any of these tunes, compounded by the fact that I simply cannot find evidence of these tunes at all, outside of this session in this discography.  -JS
