Session Details:

Have only found this session in Losin's discography. He lists it with Dizzy as the leader, but it's Boyd Raeburn's orchestra playing behind him, so we've put both as leader.

Also, he lists the trumpet/trombone player Walter Robinson. I cannot find a Walter Robinson anywhere else, in any other comprehensive discography. There is, however, a Walter Robertson who has played with Raeburn's orchestra frequently, in the same period. I'm assuming this is he.

You can read the transcriptions of the announcements on Losin's site. -JS

Both Dizzy's crew and Raeburn's have a full rhythm section, but it is unclear from Losin's entry alone whether Dizzy's replaces Raeburn's, or if this effectively two sessions: first all of Raeburn's orchestra plays, then they get off, and Dizzy's guys come on. I don't think that's the case, because it's clear Raeburn stays in the dialogue with Whitman throughout. Still, not sure about the rhythm section. -JS
