Session Details:

Bruyninckx lists this as location unknown, some time in 1955-6, and is only 'probably' sure about the personnel. A previously unreleased box set of recordings from a state department sponsored trip that sent Dizzy and his orchestra to South America could very well be from this same session(s), but more research/information is needed to know definitively. Furthermore, allmusic's records list the trip as happening in 1956 for certain, with no mention of an earlier 1955 trip, if that ever existed. Hence, we are using the year of 1956, while keeping Bruyninckx' personnel listings. Below are links to the allmusic entries for the box set, as well as a discussion from the organissimo forums about whether this session is from the South American trip at all--and instead, perhaps, from a Chester, PA concert in 1957. Again, more definitive research must be done before a final conclusion is made, but this is what we have so far, to the best of our knowledge. -JS
